FAQs

1. Where to stay in Farmington?
The Farmington Inn, right around the corner from Hill-Stead, offers convenient hospitality and a special rate for festival goers on festival nights. www.farmingtoninn.com or 860.677.2821. For other lodging suggestions, go to Plan a Visit and scroll down to Lodgings.

2. How may I be considered for a performance?
Poets read by invitation. Generally, the calendar is filled two years in advance. We are able to invite five poets per year. If you are a published poet, a seasoned reader and would like to be considered, please:

  • Send cover letter, press kit, CV, copy of your latest book in print and a schedule of upcoming public readings to:

    Poetry Director
    Hill-Stead Museum
    35 Mountain Road
    Farmington, CT 06032

We regret that a large volume of unsolicited inquiries prevents us from returning your material.
  • It is possible (though not guaranteed) to accelerate our response by including a letter of recommendation from a poet who has read previously at Hill-Stead.
  • You may expect to hear from us within 18 months only in the case of interest. We are unable to send regrets.
  • Please do not telephone or e-mail.

Professional musicians should:

  • Send a cover letter, press kit, copy of your latest CD or DVD and a schedule of upcoming public performances to:

    Poetry Director
    Hill-Stead Museum
    35 Mountain Road
    Farmington, CT 06032
