The Hill-Stead Museum Shop is dedicated to providing our customers with superior service.

By mail: Mail a copy of your Order Review page along with a check or money order payable to "Hill-Stead Museum." Checks must be in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. Bank. Please do not send cash or international money orders as we can not accept these forms of payment.

Membership and Member’s Discount

You can purchase a Hill-Stead Museum membership for yourself or as a gift, and as a member, you will immediately be eligible to receive your 10% member discount.

Privacy and Security

Your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting your personal information when you visit the Hill-Stead Museum (HSM) Shop.  We do not collect personally identifiable information about individuals unless it is specifically requested and provided. The terms of this privacy policy govern all online interactions with www.hillstead.org. Your use of this website or communication with the Museum by email constitutes your agreement to the terms of this privacy policy.

When you make on-line purchases through the HSM website, we will ask you to provide personally identifiable information necessary to fulfill your online order, which may include your name, billing and shipping addresses, telephone number, and credit card number. This is the same information requested when you place an order by telephone or through the mail. For online orders, we also require your email address so that you can receive order and shipping confirmation emails, and so that we can communicate with you, if we have difficulty processing your order.

When you make an on-line purchase, your credit card transaction will be stored temporarily on a secure server. We will retain the personally identifiable information you provide with your order for our records and to facilitate customer service. HSM never shares your personally identifiable information except as required by law. HSM does not solicit personal information from children. You must be age 18 or older to purchase from the HSM website. 

Data Security

The museum makes every reasonable effort to ensure the security of transactions that occur on our website. To maintain data accuracy, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put appropriate physical, electronic and administrative procedures in place to safeguard and secure the information that is collected on-line.  The Museum maintains PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance which ensures security and protection of sensitive customer credit card information.

Shipping and Handling

We will gladly ship your order to any country around the world. Shipping charges vary based on package dimensions, delivery location and time, and are calculated through the USPS shipping module. A handling fee is included to cover shipping preparation costs. International customers will be charged a flat $15 rate for shipping and handling.

There is no tax on the purchase of memberships, donations or gift certificates. Applicable sales tax will be added to shipments within CT.

Returns and Exchanges

Your satisfaction is our goal.  Please inspect your order upon delivery, and if for any reason you are not satisfied, you may return the merchandise within 30 days from date of purchase for an exchange or refund in the form of original payment.

  • The item returned must be in its original packaging and in saleable condition.
  • If the merchandise is damaged or defective at the time of delivery, please contact the Museum Shop at 860.677.4787 ext.112 for instructions. 
  • Include a copy of your original invoice, and a note on the packaging slip explaining why you decided to return our product so that we can continue to improve our service.
  • Return shipping costs are non-refundable unless the item is being returned as a result of our error (damaged, defective, wrong item sent, etc.)
  • Please retain all copies of your shipping receipt including tracking numbers for proof of return delivery.  We cannot be held responsible for lost return packages. 
  • Return packages must be prepaid: we cannot accept COD. 
  • Gift recipients will receive a merchandise credit in the form of a HSM gift card.
