Hill-Stead
Museum’s core volunteer group
Join The Hill-Steaders and make new friends while enriching community
life. This lively group supports the museum in areas of education,
fundraising and outreach. Two volunteer-organized events are key
to the museum’s health—an annual dinner auction and May
Market. Volunteers are needed for numerous additional programs—whether
for an afternoon or on a continuing basis. For more information contact

May Market Annual Dinner Auction Members Holiday Party
Accomplishments
The Hill-Steaders annually raise approximately 20% of the museum’s
operating budget. Additionally, their annual dinner auction’s “cause
within a cause” helps pay for important capital upgrades—repairing
174 original shutters, constructing ADA access to the Sunken Garden and restoring
Hill-Stead’s allée of maple trees.
Activities
Hill-Stead’s calendar offers many opportunities to get involved—family
festivals, a holiday party for members, decorating the period rooms, gardening
and much more. In addition, The Hill-Steaders hold five organizational coffees
a year, where members enjoy presentations by experts. Talks on Feng Shui
and art, an antiques “road show” and readings were
recent features.
