Special Events
Hay Day. October. Attendance: 450. Participants of all ages, from infants to grandparents, spend a Sunday afternoon making scarecrows, hitching hay rides, listening to fiddle music, making crafts and getting their faces painted. Assist with crafts, serve food, help set up and break down. stotzs@hillstead.org

Wreath Ramble. November. Attendance: 80-150. Visitors young and old ramble the grounds and collect dried flora, ferns, twigs and berries, then gather indoors to assemble decorative wreaths. Help gather materials, set up, break down, guide visitors or serve refreshments. stotzs@hillstead.org

Decorate Hill-Stead for the holidays. November, day after Thanksgiving. Assist curatorial staff with decorating the period rooms and Makeshift Theater in a style that exemplifies life at Hill-Stead at the turn of the 20th century. cormierc@hillstead.org

Members Holiday Party. December. Attendance: 150. Help plan, deliver or host an elegant party that includes self-guided house tours, music, lavish food and fine wine.

Children's Holiday Party. December. Attendance: 80 – 100. Help plan, bake for, deliver or host an afternoon of supervised crafts activities, refreshments and more.

May Market. May. Attendance: 1,600. Help plan, publicize and deliver Hill-Stead’s signature spring event, a two-day indoor-outdoor gardening and crafts emporium that includes a lecture/lunch. Multiple opportunities for volunteers with gardening, accounting, writing, design and people skills.
