The Hill-Stead Museum Shop, nestled in the Carriage Barn, carries a superb selection of art books, posters, postcards, note cards and apparel.
Looking for hostess gifts that make an unforgettable impression? You'll find tea towels from France, delightfully fragrant soaps from England, hand-carved wooden bird ornaments from Vermont, colorful candles from Africa, and unique leather coin purses from Ireland.
Hill-Stead is committed to supporting the region’s artists and craftspeople. Local creations include hand-painted silk scarves, photo note cards, hand-painted wooden boxes, and sterling silver jewelry. The shop also sells honey made by bees that visit the museum’s Sunken Garden, wool scarves from the sheep that graze in the museum’s fields, and natural goat’s milk soap made in the Farmington Valley.
Art books and nature books, paper dolls and old-fashioned toys make the shop a treasure trove for children.
Books on the lives of the Pope and Riddle families, on the building of Hill-Stead, handbooks on nature and the estate's walking trails, illustrated volumes on Hill-Stead’s Sunken Garden and a history of the town of Farmington are also available.
Wear our art! The museum is proud to present t-shirts, dresses, scarves and totes with designs inspired by Hill-Stead’s fine and decorative art collection. Paintings by Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and James McNeill Whistler are lovingly referenced, as are prints by Japanese woodblock artists Hiroshige and Hokusai.
The Museum Shop is open during regular Museum hours: year-round, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm. The Museum is closed Mondays and on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.
Hill-Stead Museum members enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases. Individual and family memberships can be purchased at the Shop, with all discounts on Gifts and Admission applicable immediately. All proceeds help support the many programs of the museum.
