• Please restrict your use of permanent
materials, such as acrylic and oil paints, to grassy surfaces.
Avoid stonewalls,
bluestone
and brick paths, porches and walkways.
• The grounds and gardens are open
7:30 am – 5:30
pm. Please plan your visits accordingly. We ask that you park
your vehicle in
designated parking lots, not on the grass or along interior
roads. Please remove your car by 5:30 pm.
• The historic house is open to the public
Tuesday through Sunday. Visitors may stop and watch you work
or ask you a question.

• During public hours you are welcome
to use restrooms in the Makeshift Theater. There are beverages
and light snacks
available for sale
in a vending area. There is also a wonderful array of art
books, prints, cards and gifts available for sale in our Museum
Shop.
• Picnicking is permitted in restricted
areas during the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival. Otherwise, no
picnicking is allowed.
• As a normal precaution keep away
from poison ivy. Dress and use insect repellent with ticks
in mind. Remember to check yourself for ticks,
as they may
carry Lyme disease.
• Consider taking a break from your
project to tour the inside of museum – find inspiration in
the fully intact period rooms, architectural details, French Impressionist
paintings and other artwork!
• Help Hill-Stead maintain its site.
