Plan a Field Trip
Introduce your students to
Hill-Stead.
Whether you teach art, social studies, language arts
or French, a field trip to Hill-Stead
will complement your classroom activities. Set on 152 hilltop acres, this 1901 country estate invites students to explore their interests
in an unforgettable setting.

Choose a standard tour or let
us tailor your experience
to meet curricular needs. The museum’s in situ collection of art and furnishings is a primary resource. Archived photographs, letters and diaries add depth to students’ understanding of issues raised in women’s studies and social history. Historic trails, meadows and gardens comprise an outdoor classroom for nature walks and plein air art and writing activities. Such specialized naturalist activities as Insect Adventures and bird, tree, and geology walks are available by arrangement.

Amenities

Our museum shop, rustic Makeshift Theater and outdoor lunch facility (weather permitting) provide additional resources.

Scheduling
Tours should be arranged at least two weeks in advance. When you call or e-mail, please tell us about your students’ needs and interests; we will work with you to choose or design an appropriate experience. Advise us of the date and time desired, alternate dates and the number of students and adults in your group.
