Immerse yourself. Whether visiting individually or as part of a group, you will want to allow at least an hour-and-a half for savoring Hill-Stead’s art, architecture and landscape. To view the art, plan to take a 50-minute guided tour. Tours are offered on the hour and half-hour.

Your visit begins as you approach the 1901 Colonial Revival house through an allée of trees. First, stop at the Orientation Gallery to view a video and a photo-essay for a fascinating look at Hill-Stead’s 100-plus years.

Then enjoy a guided tour of 19 period rooms filled with art and antiques, exhibited in situ. Before leaving, make sure to admire the Beatrix Farrand-designed Sunken Garden, stroll the Warren Manning-inspired grounds, or browse the Museum Shop for unique gifts and books.

Return again to walk Hill-Stead’s woodland trails or participate in one of the museum’s many programs and activities.
