Join us for a special closing reception for Into the Garden, an exhibition of paintings by Christian Peltenburg-Brechneff
The evening will include a lecture from Brechneff about his works and new book, “Into the Garden;” a vibrantly-colorful selection of artworks depicting 28 exclusive and inspiring gardens around the world.
Over the past three decades, Christian Peltenburg-Brechneff has often traded his traditional artist studio for the expansive possibilities of working directly in these exquisite settings, immersing himself in terrains both near and far—from Lunuganga in tropical Sri Lanka to the Aegean Island of Sifnos.
Translating the immediate and sublime presence of nature with painterly impressions en plein air, Brechneff pays homage to the resplendent beauty of the garden and the visionaries who created them. Among them are the gardens of masterful designers such as Geoffrey Bawa, Bruce Kelly, Bunny Williams and John Rosselli.
Beguiling and ideally gift-sized, Into the Garden, chronicles Brechneff’s long-term pilgrimage, opening these exquisite private gardens to the public through vivid expressions in oil, watercolor, and gouache.
