Join us for a light reception followed by a talk and demonstration by ceramic artist, Vicente Garcia. We’ll be looking at special pieces in Hill-Stead Museum’s ceramics collection in the dining room, library, and drawing room. Guests will then have an opportunity to try out some different techniques with a hands-on ceramic demonstration in the Makeshift Theater.

Vicente Garcia is as prolific a teacher as he is an artist. A professor at CCSU since 1997, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate ceramics classes, Garcia has been working in clay and metals for more than three decades, exhibiting and selling his work at art fairs and festivals throughout New England and New York. Garcia creates his ceramic and metal art out of a spacious contemporary studio he built in 2010 on the woodsy property behind his house in Simsbury.
