Eileen Myles says, “My favorite thing is a poem, I think you can enter or re-enter the practice of writing poetry from any point and often inexperienced poets are more adept in picking up new things & employing them than more experienced practitioners. So this is an advanced beginners session. Come as you are. I love the fact that every workshop is a collective and together we will be making something. A poem, of course, is a room of sorts, and this workshop room is very LGBT friendly and while we’re making stuff we will be chucking all kinds of things in and out. We’ll look at poems by John Wieners, CA Conrad, Fred Moten, Lucille Clifton and Judy Grahn. We’ll see if we can tear off a piece of their process and make something new. We’ll write at least one if not more poem(s) in our meeting. I will too. I look forward to us.”
Eileen Myles will be reading at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival. For details, see Mark Doty and Eileen Myles in our Calendar.
