Hill-Stead Museum welcomes student and adult interns, as needs arise, in its administrative, buildings and grounds, curatorial, development, education, and public programming areas as well as for our Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.

Under the general direction of the Curator, the Part-Time Shop Associate is responsible for operation of the Museum Shop and Visitor Services on select days when Hill-Stead Museum is open and as necessary during special events. Flexibility in schedule is required.
Under the general direction of Hill-Stead Museum’s Executive Director and CEO, and in concert with the Museum’s mission, strategic plan and interpretive plan, the Director of Education will design, develop and implement creative strategies for establishing and expanding educational programs and critical community outreach to engage diverse audiences of all ages. The Director of Education will work to expand external partnerships with private and public school systems, colleges and universities within the state, as well as with cultural organizations in the Greater Hartford area and beyond.
This position oversees the recruitment, selection, training, performance and evaluation of the Education Specialist, Museum Educators and volunteer Museum Guides, and is responsible for developing and administering high school and college internships within the Museum’s education department. Leading the aforementioned paid and volunteer staff, the Director of Education will serve as one of the museum’s primary interpreters, and will oversee and manage the development and delivery of educational programs and activities for students, young adults, families and adult learners, presented both on and off-site. In collaboration with fellow senior staff, the Director of Education will support the ongoing planning and implementation of Hill-Stead’s Interpretive Plan that encompasses themed and tiered guided and self-directed tour experiences.
The Manager of Private and Corporate Events is responsible for the planning, management and evaluation of all private and corporate events in/on the museum’s buildings and grounds for private, corporate or not-for-profit functions. Events range from weddings, showers, parties, dinners, memorial services to corporate meetings and events. The Manager handles all inquiries, tours, bookings, promotion and sales of event spaces; executes contracts; and coordinates set up planning and logistics with Operations staff and all outside vendors. The Manager will also work with staff to develop events that support the mission of Hill-Stead Museum and continue its growth through events.
