Volunteer groups include:

The Garden Gang. Garden lovers meet weekly from 9:00 am to noon, April through October, to maintain the historic Sunken Garden, working under the direction of garden manager Lea Anne Moran. The breathtaking results achieved by this hard-working group speak to their skill and dedication.

Museum Guides. Following formal, in-depth training, our volunteer Guides become qualified to lead daily tours of Hill-Stead’s historic home and collection. Guides play an integral and valued role in museum operations.

The Hill-Steaders. This corps of approximately 60 active volunteers supports the museum with critical fundraising initiatives and benefit events. This dynamic group accepts new members year-round.

Sunken Garden Poetry Festival. The SGPF office welcomes volunteers interested in preparing for or working at, Festival nights throughout the summer. Distribute signs, hand out programs, support publicity efforts, help direct traffic, and more.

The Collections/Archives, Development, and Public Relations staff welcome volunteers to share their skills in the office.
