It’s Seed Season at Hill-Stead!

It’s fun and rewarding to plant using your own seeds and see the benefits of keeping a planting cycle going from year to year. Or, perhaps you just want to experiment with saving seeds from a special plant. This informative seed saving presentation will cover saving vegetable seeds and perennial flower seeds.  There is a right time to collect seeds for future planning and the presenters will cover a variety of seeds, planting times, and  stratification strategies that will help achieve a bountiful harvest of vegetables and flowers. Come hear what these experts have to say about seed saving.Carol Walters and Ginni Block are Master Gardeners who completed their course with UConn Master Gardener program and are regular volunteers in the Hill-stead Pollinator Garden.Carol has been growing vegetables and saving vegetable seeds for over 15 years. Ginni has been promoting native seeds plants and saving their seeds in an attempt to share and promote native seeds and plants. This presentation will be provided as a PowerPoint for vegetable seeds and perennial plant seeds (primarily native flowering perennials) followed by a  hands on demonstration and provision of seeds to take home.
